The package consists of 2 online courses, Vine Pruner Guyot and Vine Pruner Advanced Guyot + 3 days of practical training (two in winter and one in spring for shoot selection) + Simonit&Sirch’s Guyot Methodology handbook by Marco Simonit.
After the theoretical online courses Vine Pruner and Vine Pruner Advanced, during the practice sessions in the vineyard, Simonit&Sirch tutors will guide you in the application of pruning techniques to safeguard the health, longevity and sustainability of your vines and your vineyard.
The four basic principles of Simonit&Sirch pruning, applied to Guyot, will be explored: respecting sap flow, controlling branching, reducing the number of wounds and making small pruning cuts.

Programme
Winter session: full-time lessons, approximately from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., on both days of the course, meeting directly at the School premises.
On the afternoon of the second day of the course, an individual practical test will be carried out to check the correct learning of the pruning techniques covered during the training.
Spring session: the date of the spring training day will be communicated according to the state of vegetative development of the vineyard and the lesson will always be full time, approximately from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with a meeting point directly at the School premises.
At the end of the spring day, certificates of completion of the Guyot Vine Pruner Advanced course will be awarded.
Useful Info
For all pruners there is no such thing as good or bad weather, only good or bad equipment.
So come equipped to work in all weather conditions and be ready with appropriate clothing for the season: rainwear, rubber boots and a change of shoes.
Don’t forget to bring your pruning shears, work gloves and goggles.
Lunch is free, to be organised independently.
